NewYork.com includes Enclave at the Cathedral as one of the most anticipated NYC real estate openings of 2016, particularly highlighting the property’s 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities.

There’s no shortage of buildings opening these days in New York. Last year was hailed for its rock-solid real estate market, with everything from a new affordable housing complex opening in Long Island City, Queens, to the sale of multi-million dollar condos at the skinny towers rising along Central Park. Although real estate experts expect prices to cool in the upcoming year (hopeful news for all the buyers and renters out there), development is expected to chug full steam ahead. (For an overview on residential real estate around NYC, check out our real estate page.) These are the eight most anticipated real estate openings for 2016 — a list that includes new luxury condo developments, high-profile retail spaces and a subway station that New Yorkers have waited a good 100 years for.

Enclave at the Cathedral, Harlem
The Enclave at the Cathedral is another controversial battle that will come to a close when the building opens this year. The project sits on the grounds of Cathedral of St. John the Divine, a magnificent 120-year-old Harlem cathedral surrounded by nearly 12 acres. To help pay for maintenance of the gigantic religious structure, the church sold development rights to the developer the Brodsky Organization in 2013. The firm built two 15-story rental towers just north of the cathedral to the chagrin of preservationists, who felt the architecture obscured the view of the cathedral and did not fit in with the historic site. The towers will open this spring, and leasing for the 430 apartments is already underway. The studio, one- and two-bedroom rentals will be priced between $2,400 and $4,720 a month. Residents will get 10,000 square feet of amenities, including an indoor art gallery, game room, screening room, café, fitness center, parking garage, two roof decks and a landscaped terrace with an outdoor television.
